Monday Night Cinema entertains and educates

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne County Arts Alliance (WCAA) Festival’s Monday Night Cinema program has opened for the season. Funded in part through a Villaume Foundation grant and hosted at Cinema 6, WCAA’s Monday Night Cinema is a Hollywood alternative, bringing Wayne County the best in classic, foreign and independent films. The next offering will be “Double Indemnity,” on September 17.

The Monday Night Cinema Series is open to the public and intended to educate as well as entertain. Showtime is at 8:15 p.m., and curator Ted Malakin provides a brief overview of the featured film. The 2007 fall program explores the theme of film’s relationship to other arts and media, and its role as commentary and instrument of social identity and change.

Following the movie, there is an open discussion giving audience members the opportunity to explore the meaning and creative process of film as a modern art form.

The suggested donation is $5 per person, which goes to support WCAA’s community programs.
