First annual energy fair comes to Lackawaxen

LACKAWAXEN, PA — The Upper Delaware Preservation Coalition (UDPC) will sponsor the first annual Energy Fair on Saturday, September 8 at the firemen’s field (off route 590), from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. The event will have all the features of a country fair—live music, kids playing games and tasty chicken barbeque—plus a broad menu of information and activities that are all about energy.

After swinging to the tuneful sounds of featured band Basket Landing, you may want to stroll over to Stephen Stuart’s presentation on renewable energy systems, and then to Tom Holmes, who will show you his ocean pressure generator and explain how it works. You can learn about PennFuture’s Cool Pennsylvania program, examine the innovative gadgets that Daria Dorosh will have on display along with her eco-artworks, find out how you could be using wind-generated electricity now and participate in a silent auction and bid on some unique goods and services, such as a solar site assessment. Learn how to save money while preserving our area’s sublime beauty, and become part of a clean energy future.

The UDPC is on the front line in the battle against proposed high-voltage transmission lines running near and along the Delaware River. As part of that mission, the UDPC believes that education and outreach about alternative energy, conservation and better practices for a better world are essential.

Admission is free; chicken barbeque costs $10.

To make a tax-deductable donation of an item or service to the silent auction, or to purchase a ticket for the chicken BBQ dinner in advance, call 570/685-7900. To set up a booth, call 570/685-3819.
