Local artists’ work to be shown at Chant offices

REGION — Two offices of Davis R. Chant Real Estate will host exhibits of local artists during September.

The Davis R. Chant Real Estate office on Route 739 will display the works of Westfall Township resident and artist Kim Pearce throughout the month. An opening reception will be held Saturday, September 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

A native of Milford, Pearce will be exhibiting and selling many of his pieces in a wide-ranging, large-scale show featuring various mediums. Area residents may be familiar with Pearce’s recent centennial paintings for both the City of Port Jervis, NY and Borough of Matamoras. In addition, Pearce regularly exhibits at area arts events. For the past 22 years, he has been a commercial art instructor at the New York State Correctional Facility at Fishkill. A catalog of his work can be found online at www.kimpearce.com. Pearce will offer both originals and prints for sale.

The Davis R. Chant Realtors office at 106 Hartford Street in Milford will host the works of Barryville, NY artist Todd C. Anderson and Nick Roes. There will be a wine and cheese reception on Saturday, September 8, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and the exhibit will continue at the office to the end of the month.

The exhibit is a mix of classical and primitive artwork, with sculpture and drawings done in oil, acrylic, colored markers and black and white. Prices for an original drawing range from $30 up into the thousands.

Anderson’s work, which includes paintings, murals and sculpture, is held in private collections worldwide. It’s also on display at his own gallery in Barryville.

Roes also lives and works in Barryville. He employs a deceptively childlike style with strong, simple lines that convey an abundance of energy and feeling with a minimum of fuss.
