Passing on the outdoorsmens heritage
YULAN, NY The Beaver Brook Rod and Gun Club will hold its first annual Youth Field Day on Saturday, September 15 at the club pavilion located on Dexheimer Road just west of the village of Yulan. The event is being held in honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day, and is geared toward youth up to age 16. The day will consist of visits to various learning stations where youngsters will be introduced to various outdoor topics such as hunting, firearm safety, trapping, animal identification, map and compass, knot tying, casting techniques, patterning shotguns and more. The club will provide lunch, and some guns will be available for kids who may not have their own.
The annual Youth Field Day is designed to help introduce young outdoor enthusiasts to things they might not otherwise be exposed to in a home where these pursuits might not be available on a regular basis. The club is dedicated to helping pass along the pursuit of our outdoor heritage to future generations, and teaching conservation and wise use of our renewable resources along with firearm safety.
Pre-registration is required, and numbers will be limited for safety purposes. For more information call 570/237-6454.
