An alternative approach to gardening

HONESDALE, PA — Susan Martha Thompson, a Master Gardener and certified natural health professional, will hold a series of classes with a holistic approach on native plants and garden design this fall at Mariposa Gardens, of which she is the proprietress, at 174 Prompton Road. The courses are free, but donations are requested.

“Native Plants in the Landscape: Why & How” will be held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12; “Feng Shui Landscape & Garden Design Using PA Native Plants: Part 1” will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19; “Feng Shui Landscape & Garden Design Using PA Native Plants: Part 2” will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26; and “PA Native Alternatives to Invasive Plants” will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 on Wednesday, October 10.

Thompson holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Marywood University and bachelor’s degrees in both therapeutic recreation and outdoor education. She holds National Certification in Counseling. In her Honesdale practice, she deals with stress management, Reiki, drum therapy, nature therapy, clinical aromatherapy, nutritional therapy and a variety of other alternative approaches to health and gardening.
