ANNA AMBROZEWICZ

Anna Ambrozewicz, a homemaker and area resident for 33 years, died August 25, 2007 at home. She was 58.

The daughter of Jan and Janina Konik Tapper, she was born May 28, 1949 in Poland.

She is survived by her parents of Callicoon Center, NY; her husband, Walter Ambrozewicz at home; her children, Ela Ambrozewicz of Callicoon Center, Lorette Ambrozewicz of Miami, FL, Chris Ambrozewicz of Brooklyn, NY and Megan Ambrozewicz of Callicoon Center; a granddaughter; brothers George and Ozzie and John, Joe and Marius Tapper; and sisters Marysia Jaskowski and Elizabeth Tapper.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Tapper.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Sunday, August 26 at St. George’s Church, Jeffersonville, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.


JACQUELYN “Lynn” TWICHEL ELFERT

Jacquelyn “Lynn” Twichel Elfert of Callicoon, NY died Wednesday, August 22, 2007. She was 72.

Lynn was born in Paterson, NJ on May 4, 1935 and later attended Syracuse University. She attended St. James Episcopal Church of Callicoon.

She is survived by six nephews, Benjamin Rose Baker Jr. of Ellicott City, MD, William Barney Baker of Ashburn, VA, Richard Prentice Baker of Potomac, MD, Daniel Clinton Baker of Exton, PA, Edwin Presby Baker of Vancover, WA and Timothy Andrew Baker of Rockville, MD; a stepson, Jason Elfert of Nevada City, CA; and “Poppy,” Elfert’s beloved canine companion, who will be looked after by Mary White of Callicoon.

Services were held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at St. James Episcopal Church, located on Route 17B in Callicoon. Mother Joan LaLiberte officiated. A community open house and potluck to honor Lynn’s life followed the service.


HENRY S. ELWYN JR

Henry S. Elwyn Jr. of Harriman, NY passed away on August 20, 2007 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He was 82.

He was the son of Henry S. Elwyn Sr. and the former Gladys Babcock.

Henry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII in the South Pacific. He was a 13-year resident of Freehold, NY and a 28-year resident of Harriman. He was the owner and operator of Elwyn Bros. Drywall in the 1960s, employing over 30 people. He was also a contractor, remodeler and homebuilder in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a dairy farmer in the 1950s. An avid old-bottle collector and cat lover, he was also a hunter, fisherman, scuba driver, water skier, poet and writer.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth J. Elwyn at home; two daughters, Kathleen Cook of Yulan, NY and Betty Charleston of Harriman; three sons, Henry Elwyn III of Middletown, Stanley Elwyn of Leeds, NY and Gary Elwyn of Freehold; a brother, Charles Elwyn of Lake Clear Junction, NY; three sisters, Mildred Wolfe of South Cairo, NY, Betty Thomas of Copperas Cove, TX and Doris Bailey of Bainbridge, NY; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Elwyn.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 16, 2007 at AJ Cunningham Funeral Home Inc. in Greenville NY.

Interment was made in the Medusa Cemetery, Medusa, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local animal shelter of one’s choice.


DOROTHY E. GOETTING

Dorothy E. Goetting of Lititz, PA, formerly of Callicoon, NY, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 in Lancaster, PA. She was 90.

She was born on June 8, 1917 in Bronx, NY.

She was a seamstress and housewife. She was widowed in 1972.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Goetting of Rochester, NY and Gerald Goetting of Middletown, CT; one daughter, Lorraine Dicks, wife of Michael R. Dicks of Lititz; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, August 17, 2007. Burial was made in the Callicoon Cemetery.


DAVID RAMSAY

David Ramsay of Equinunk, PA died August 22, 2007 at his home. He was 44.

The son of the former Helen Reilly Ramsay of Equinunk and the late Jack C. Ramsay, he was born March 6, 1963 in Passaic, NJ.

David worked in maintenance at The Metropolitan Opera for five years and later became a general contractor before becoming disabled. Although David spent most of his life in New Jersey, he always felt at home in Equinunk.

He is survived by his wife Diane of Wayne, NJ; his brother, Thomas and a nephew, Tommy.

He was predeceased by his sister, Jacquelyn Ramsay.

A Blessing Service was held at the Hessling Funeral Home 428 Main St., Honesdale on Monday, August 27, 2007. As per his request, cremation was held at Maple Hill Crematory in Archbald, PA.


KYLA ANNE SCHWESINGER

Kyla Anne Schwesinger of Damascus, PA died Friday, August 24, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. She was five months of age.

The daughter of Drue Schwesinger and Renee Dieterich of Damascus, she was born March 21, 2007 in Honesdale.

In a family statement, it was said, “Kyla was a bundle of joy with a beautiful smile and will always be ‘Our Little Angel’ to her family.”

She is survived by her big brother, Ayden Schwesinger; her paternal grandparents, Frank Schwesinger of Beach Lake, PA and Gretta Schwesinger of Damascus; her maternal grandparents, Michael Dieterich Sr. of Farmington, NJ and Michelle Dieterich of Honesdale; great-grandparents Rudy and Anne Dieterich of Marco Island, FL and Theresa Reidenback of Elizabeth, NJ; uncles Dylan and Dane Schwesinger and Michael Jr., Matthew and Alexander Dieterich; an aunt, Desiree Schwesinger; two cousins; many great-aunts and uncles; and many friends.

A Mass of the Angels was celebrated on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale. Burial followed the Mass in St. Mary’s Cemetery.


GEORGE A. SINACORE SR

George A. Sinacore Sr. of Cochecton, NY, a long time resident of the area, died on Friday, August 24, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 89.

The son of the late Anthony and Mary Montalbano Sinacori, he was born November 16, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY.

George was a World War II Army veteran. He was a retired supervisor for Starrett City, Brooklyn, NY. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, Lake Huntington, NY, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and a scoutmaster for 42 years. A family statement reads, “George was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took great pride in his family. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He will truly be missed by all that knew him.”

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Aurelia Barberio Sinacore; three children, Anthony Sinacore of Liberty, NY, Mary Lou Peers and husband Randolph of Monticello, NY and George A. Sinacore Jr. and wife Diane of Massapquie Park, NY; six grandchildren, Christine Sinacore, Randy Peers and his wife Lana, Douglas Peers, Christopher Peers, George Sinacore III and Jessica Sinacore; and one brother, Anthony Sinacore of Florida.

George is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Sinacore; and his sister, Marion Banning.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at Our Lady of The Lake Church, Lake Huntington, NY. Rev. William Scully O.F.M. officiated. Burial followed at Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Liberty, NY.

SARA TEEPLE

Sara “Sally” Teeple, of Unionville, NY died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at home. She was 67.

The daughter of the late George F. and the late Julia Gray Graham, she was born August 10, 1940 in Middletown, NY.

Sally retired from the Orange County Government Center, where she worked as a building service worker. A family statement read: “She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to crochet.”

She is survived by a son, Robert Teeple and wife Melody of Port Jervis, NY; two daughters, Judy Conklin and husband Steve of Westtown, NY and Dawn Teeple and fiancé John Judd of Unionville, NY; two brothers, George Graham of Matamoras, PA and Thomas Graham of Lackawaxen, PA; eight grandchildren; her loving companion, her dog Cody; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister Julia Krause; and a brother, Francis Graham.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home. Cremation was at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, PA.
