Stay a spell at a one-room schoolhouse

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Ann Schweighofer, co-chair of the Wayne County Historical Society’s (WCHS) Education Committee, will conduct an authentic old-fashioned spelling bee at the historic Bethel One-Room School during the society’s open house this weekend. The open house at the school will run from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, and the bee will be held at 2:00 p.m. The program at the 1870s schoolhouse is run by the WCHS through an agreement with the Wayne County Commissioners.

To get to Bethel School from Route 6, take Route 652 east one mile and turn right on Bethel School Road. Continue one mile to the school, which is on the left.
