Boston Pops strikes twice
Salute to Oscar and Tony award-winners to grace stages at Bethel Woods, Mountain Laurel
BETHEL, NY and BUSHKILL, PA The Boston Pops will come to two of our regions leading performing arts venues over the coming week.
First, at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, NY, on Sunday, August 19 at 7:00 p.m., the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, with Keith Lockhart conducting, will present Tribute to Oscar & Tony featuring musical hits of Hollywood and Broadway. The evening is a salute to music from the glamour of the Academy Awards Oscar and the American Theatre Wings Tony. The audience will be able to hear the most memorable award-winning themes from the golden age of cinema to the latest Hollywood blockbuster, and from the classics of the Great White Way to the most recent Broadway hit musical.
Joining the red carpet tribute are Broadways golden couple, Marin Mazzie and Jason Danieley, both currently starring on BroadwayMarin in Monty Pythons Spamalot, and Jason in Kander and Ebbs Curtains.
Those who miss the performance at Bethel Woods will have another chance the following night at 8:00 p.m. in the Tom Ridge Pavilion at The Mountain Laurel Center for the Performing Arts in Bushkill, PA, where it will form the centerpiece of a Boston Pops Gala Benefit for the center. The benefit will honor Robert Uguccioni for exemplary support of Mountain Laurel Center. The evening includes pre-performance cocktails and dinner reception and reserved performance seating. Casually elegant attire is advised.
At Bethel Woods, reserved ticket prices range from $25 to $75 and are on sale at www.BethelWoodsLive.org, by phone 845/454-3388, and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Tickets are also available at Steves Music Center in Rock Hill, NY and the Bethel Woods box office Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and two hours prior to show time on all event days. Parking is free.
