Hippiefest harks back to Woodstock era
BETHEL, NY Hippiefest, the musical flashback celebrating the bands that defined musics most influential decade, the 60s, will come to Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Saturday, August 11 at 7:00 p.m.
The second annual Hippiefest marks the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love, with impresarios The Turtles, Felix Cavalieres Rascals, The Zombies, Mountain, Mitch Ryder, Badfinger, Country Joe McDonald, Iron Butterfly, Denny Laine and Melanie.
Tour creator Toby Ludwig said, This festival is for people who werent around in the 60s and 70sor were and just cant seem to remember. Bring your parents, your grandparents and your kids.
Fans can expect to hear a variety of classic favorites such as Good Lovin, by Felix Cavalieres Rascals, Shes Not There, by the Zombies and Devil with a Blue Dress on, by Mitch Ryder.
The first annual Hippiefest was billed a time warp (The Hartford Courant) guaranteed to get boomers misty-eyed enough to fog up their bifocals (Newsday). The Rutland Herald wrote, This just might be the time for hippies to rise again.
