Archery tournament, barbeque open to all
CLARYVILLE, NY The Frost Valley YMCA will host its annual August Archery Tournament and Barbeque on Saturday, August 11 from 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. The action takes place at Frost Valleys new 3-D archery course located at 2244 Frost Valley Road. This half-mile-loop trail through woods and fields incorporates a variety of terrain and natural habitats. The targets are life-like foam figures positioned in natural settings.
The entry fee for the event is $16 for adults, $6 for children 13 and under and under 6 free. Admission includes the tournament and barbeque. Participants should bring their own bows and arrows, though a limited number of loaner bows will be available.
The competition features several shooting positions, and completion categories are offered for each target from cub, novice, youth, traditional, women, hunter, open, to pro and top-bow classes. Foam animals are set in natural terrain on a half-mile trail of easy hiking for most everyone. Staff are available for tips and instruction.
One goal of the Family Sporting Weekend series is to introduce new members and guests to the benefits of the Natural Resource Membership at Frost Valley YMCA. Natural Resources members have access to Frost Valleys 6,000 acres for hiking, fly fishing and seasonal sports hunting.
The final event in the four-part Family Sporting Series will be an Autumn Outdoor Sporting Weekend, set for Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16.
