Callicoon’s picturesque Main Street to host vendors, artists and browsers

WHERE: Lower Main Street, Callicoon, NY.

COST: Free.

CALLICOON, NY — Callicoon’s annual street fair will return this Saturday, July 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. rain or shine. As always, streetside stalls will feature a wide variety of food and handicrafts. For only the second year, the event will also be enlivened by an innovation that last year met with great success: live entertainment and music. The stage has been moved from last year’s location in Callicoon Creek Park to the parking lot in front of Klimchok’s, bringing the performances right into the heart of the action on the street.

Local talent onstage will include the returning Basket Landing, whose performers brought the house down last year with acts ranging from Ukrainian dance to pure old-fashioned folk singing, and the Kurpil Family Fiddlers, among others.

With its riverside location, small-town atmosphere and well-preserved buildings, many of them architectural gems from the turn of the last century, Callicoon is one of our quaintest, most appealing and walkable hamlets. The street fair is an ideal time to enjoy it to the fullest.
