Float a raft down our own mighty river
UDC hosts its 19th annual raft trip
MATAMORAS, PA The Upper Delaware Council (UDC) will hold its 19th annual raft trip on Sunday, August 5. The scenic 10-mile trip on the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River starts from Pond Eddy, NY and ends at Matamoras, PA. Participants will park at Matamoras in the morning, with check-in starting at 9:00 a.m. at the UDC table, and will be shuttled to Kittatinny Canoes Pond Eddy Base for the launch.
Kittatinny Canoes will provide the rafts, paddles, life jackets, safety instructions and shuttle transportation. Minimum occupancy per raft is four people. Parties of fewer than four will be matched at the UDCs discretion. Participants should be in good physical condition. Children must be at least four years old, 40 pounds, and able to swim. Children 12 and under are required by law to wear life jackets at all times. Securely fastened life jackets are strongly advised for all boaters and swimmers.

Small coolers and waterproof bags for items such as cameras and keys may be tied into the raft. This average trip length is four and a half hours, though the timing varies according to river level, wind, and each groups desired pace.
Advance reservations are required by Monday, July 30, and cost $20 for ages 12 and over, $10 for under 12. Reservations and checks may be mailed to the Upper Delaware Council, P.O. Box 192, 211 Bridge St., Narrowsburg, NY 12764, with cash or checks payable to UDC.
