ECM recording artist Anat Fort live on The Settlers Inn deck
HAWLEY, PA Anat Fort, described by Time Out New Yorks K. Leander Williams as a daring pianist-composer whose inventive way with tunes and time suggests a huge talent in the making, will appear at The Settlers Inn on Main Avenue on Wednesday, July 25 and August 1 at 6:00 p.m.
The appearances by the Israeli-born musician are part of The Settlers Inn Food and Fun and All That Jazz series, featuring music and dinner outside on their deck every Wednesday evening this summer, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., with no cover charge. Fort will appear with vibraphonist Stefan Bauer on July 25, and on August 1 with the Anat Fort Trio, including bassist Gary Wang and drummer Roland Schneider.
Fort ( www.AnatFort.com ) is an important presence on the New York City alternative jazz scene and equally highly regarded in her homeland. A session she recorded with drummer Paul Motian, bassist Ed Schuller and clarinetist Perry Robinson was brought to the attention of the legendary producer Manfred Eicher of ECM Records, and the resultant CD A Long Story was released in early 2007.
Upcoming artists in the series include the Robin Aleman Trio on August 8, the Robert Kopec Quartet on August 15 and the Indigo Moon Brass Band featuring Gary Rixner on August 22.
