There’ll be dancing in the park

HONESDALE, PA — Dancers from the Honesdale Dance Studio will perform on the stage at Honesdale’s Central Park at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, part of the Wayne County Creative Arts Council’s Summer Festival of Park Events.

Literally hundreds of dancers, twirlers and tumblers have performed in Central Park over the years for supportive audiences of friends, families and visitors. The dancers from the Honesdale Dance Studio are among the most popular of those groups.

Joann Florance, who founded the Honesdale Dance Studio, this year continues its tradition of presenting a varied program of dance styles and music from Tchaikovsky ballets to Broadway showstoppers, hip-hop, tap and jazz-funk. Scores of dancers of all ages study with Florance and her assistants in her Main Street studios, and Florance herself travels frequently to New York to keep abreast of the latest dance styles.

In case of inclement weather the performance will move to the cafeteria of Lakeside Elementary School. Refreshments are available. There is no charge for the performance, but a free will offering will be collected.
