Angela LaGreca will bring her unique combination of standup comedy, musical comedy and impressions to the Nancy LaMott Room of the Bradstan Country Hotel in White Lake this Sunday. That combination has brought LaGreca numerous awards, including the Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Musical Comedy, and six MAC Awards (New Yorks Oscar for live performance) for outstanding performance in three categories: comedy, musical comedy and for hosting her own variety series called Monday Nite Madness.
Until last year, LaGreca was a regular audience warm-up personality for The View, Barbara Walters hit daytime talk show on ABC-TV. During her tenure with the show, starting in 1997, she appeared numerous times, including in Joy Behars Comedy Corner and hosting the shows Dance Party Contest. Currently, she is a segment producer for Merideth Viera on NBCs Today Show.
Her stint at The View represents only a small portion of a lengthy TV resumewhich includes writing and producing as well as performingbut LaGreca particularly enjoys performing live, which she has done everywhere from the Carolinas to Carnegie Hall.
The Nancy LaMott room, a charmingly intimate venue housed in the splendidly restored Victorian bed and breakfast overlooking White Lake, ought to suit LaGreca to a T. It is the perfect setting for the type of live performance that puts entertainers directly in touch with the audience, and vice versa.
Those who fancy a spot of cabaret but cant make it to the Bradstan Sunday night should consider dropping in on a Saturday. Every Saturday night year round, except during the month of March, the Nancy LaMott Room is open from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and operates much like the Manhattan style piano bars such as Dont Tell Mamas and the late, great Eighty Eights. The staff are all professional cabaret singers who both serve the guests and perform. There is no cover charge, but there is a $20 minimum. Cocktails, soft drinks, coffee, tea and homemade desserts are all available for purchase, and all go towards the minimum.
