DVAA gives unprecedented three
Bodenstein Music Scholarships
NARROWSBURG, NY The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance has announced the Dr. Barry and Jane Bodenstein Music Scholarship awards for 2007. Violinist Laura Berger of Youngsville has won the Music Advancement Award of $500, and Noah Barker (piano) of Jeffersonville and Jessica Armstrong (flute), of Livingston Manor have won the Music Achievement Award of $300 each.
This is the first year that three scholarships have been awarded, and because of the high quality of the music presented by the finalists, the jury increased each of the Music Advancement awards from $100 to $300.
The Arts Alliance in Narrowsburg offers this annual music scholarship, open to seniors at Sullivan West High School, in memory of Dr. Barry and Jane Bodenstein, admired community leaders from Jeffersonville. Dr. Bodenstein was a chiropractor and avid percussionist. His wife Jane was a member of the DVAA Board of Directors and an activist in many other civic organizations.
