An Ideal fit

Undefeated Fitness Factory munches on Ideal Snacks

By RICHARD A. ROSS

MONTICELLO, NY - Looking as fit as they did last year when they garnered their second consecutive Monticello Men’s League championship in a best of three game series with Sullivan Sports, Fitness Factory is off to a blazing start for a three-peat this year.

The men in orange and blue advanced their cause on June 19, with a 14-2 five-inning romp over Ideal Snacks. The game was typical Fitness Factory?blazing bats and fine pitching turned in by Serafin Rodriquez and Fitness Factory’s off-season acquisition Tim “Chopper” Ackermann.

Ackermann and Ideal Snacks’ shortstop Joe Meyer were on Lewis Auto Parts, a team that opted out of the league this year, stating a lack of competition as its main reasons for not continuing its multi-year presence.

Angels soar in win over Nugget

By RICHARD A. ROSS

MONGAUP VALLEY, NY - It’s far to soon to anoint any team as champion yet, but Charlie’s Angels, a team still smarting from losing its 2005 playoff title to Cooper Paint last year, is on a mission. Aside from a bump in the road that led to an early season May 29 loss against L+B Tack, the Angels (8-1) have shown no mercy for their opponents, including Cooper Paint.

Cooper Paint finds its stroke against Lindsey’s

By RICHARD A. ROSS

MONGAUP VALLEY, NY—For Cooper Paint, the defending A division champions of the Sullivan County Women’s Softball League (SCWSL), this season has been far from stellar. With diminished numbers from last year, the team has had trouble fielding more than the minimum number of players for its first nine games, and the schedule of playing only once a week at times has hurt as well.

Last year, Cooper won both the regular season and playoff titles. A year prior, it went undefeated in the regular season, and lost two of three to Charlie’s Angels in the playoffs.
