AGNES C. BODENS
Agnes C. Bodens of Narrowsburg, NY, a retired postal worker for the United States Post Office in Narrowsburg and life-long resident, died Monday, June 18, 2007 at Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 95.
The daughter of the late Charles and Lucy Schmidt Smith, she was born in Neweiden, NY on June 9, 1912.
Agnes was a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg, a member of St. Francis Rosary Society and a member of Catholic Daughters. She was a founding board member of the Tusten Church and Cemetery Association, a contributor to the Lava Volunteer Fire Department and a valued member of the Lava Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jean Bodens; her former daughter-in-law, Lorraine Bodens; step-children; step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who, along with friends, will truly miss her.
She is predeceased by her husband, Gilbert L. Bodens; her only child, Ronald P. Bodens; and her step granddaughter, Wendy Worzel. She was the youngest and last of 11 siblings.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday June 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg. Rev. Donald Beck will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be in Lava Cemetery, Lava, NY.

LINUS F. DWYER
Linus F. Dwyer passed away June 17, 2007 in Ventura, CA. He was 81.
He was a decorated World War II veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries received in the European theater. He moved to California in 1973, where he owned and operated a motel. He spent his retirement years living on a mesa in Carpinteria, CA overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Linus was originally from Callicoon, NY.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Betsy; and daughters Betsy Butler of Davis, CA and Leslie Dwyer of Santa Monica, CA.
JAMES GARGANO
James Vinny Gargano of Lake Huntington, NY, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at his home. He was 76.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Korean War, and was Chaplain of the Marine Corps League of Lake Huntington. He was a retired meat cutter for Waldbaums Markets.
He is survived by Marie Gargano, his wife of 53 years; two sons, James and wife Fran of Las Vegas, NV and William and wife Susan of Allentown, PA; three granddaughters, Lisa, Michelle and Christine and her husband D.J. Florence of Las Vegas, NV; a grandson; and a sister-in-law, Nettie Gargano of Brooklyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, June 23 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Route 52, Lake Huntington.

ALBERT J. KRECKEL
Albert J. Kreckel of Port Jervis, NY, a retired maintenance mechanic for A&P Food Stores, Brooklyn, NY and longtime area resident, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 83.
He was born August 25, 1923 in New York City.
He was a member of St. Marys R.C. Church in Port Jervis; a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army Air Corps; a member of the American Legion and a member of Roosa-Fleming V.F.W. Post #161, Port Jervis.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Maikowski Kreckel, at home; one daughter, Linda Masson and her husband Robert of Sussex, NJ; one son, Robert Kreckel of Sparrowbush, NY; one brother, Milton Kreckel of Queens, NY; five grandchildren; one stepsister, Joan of Brooklyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Marys R.C. Church, Port Jervis. The Rev. Dennis M. Dinan officiated. The vigil wake service was held on Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial with military honors was in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY.

ROBERT E. LEUTE
Robert E. Leute of Florida, NY died on June 20, 2007 at St. Anthonys Community Hospital. He was 80.
The son of George and Hattie Neuman Leute, he was born on April 21, 1927 in Callicoon, NY. He was the husband of Marian Donnegan Leute.
Robert served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a gardener at Cunningham Park, Queens, NY and was employed by the New York City Parks Department, in Queens.
He is survived by his wife, Marian; three daughters, Barbara Leary of Warwick, NY, Cora Giraud of Hazlet, NJ and Gail Miller of Tinton Falls, NJ; a sister, Harriet Dintrone of California; and five grandchildren.
Memorial visitation was on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick. A funeral service followed.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthonys Hospital, Warwick.
DAVID J. MARSHALL
David J. Marshall of White Lake, NY and a 30-year resident of the area, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 17, 2007 in Rock Hill, NY. He was 63.
The son of Dorothy Mercure Marshall and the late Joseph Marshall, he was born in Woonsocket, RI on January 21, 1944.
David was a harness horse driver and trainer, currently at Plain Ridge Raceway in Plain Ridge, MA and also had driven at various other harness tracks including Monticello Raceway. He was an active member of the United States Trotting Association.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Marshall of Burrillville, RI; his wife, Joan Allison Marshall of White Lake; one son, Troy of Long Beach, CA; four brothers, Richard and his wife Muriel of Ocala, FL, Joseph and his wife Mary of Burrillville, Robert of Attleboro, MA and Keith of Burrillville; one sister, Carol Davis and her husband Ron of Kingston, RI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Tran on Saturday, June 23 at Ramsays Funeral Homes, Inc., 3534 Route 55, Kauneonga Lake. Interment followed the service at Kenoza Lake Cemetery, Kenoza Lake, NY.

JOAN NEIGER
Joan Neiger of Narrowsburg, NY, a retired bookkeeper and secretary for Lang Industries and a longtime resident of the area, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 76.
The daughter of the late James and Lillian Carmody Green, she was born July 20, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY. She was the widow of the late Donald Neiger Sr.
Joan was a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. A family statement reads, Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a special person. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her one son, Donald Neiger and his wife Elaine of Narrowsburg; a daughter, Michelle Cole and her husband Michael of Beach Lake, PA; and three grandchildren, Kelsey and Nicholas Neiger of Narrowsburg and Tim Neiger of Virginia.
Visitation was on Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at St. Francis Xavier, Narrowsburg with the Rev. William Scully, O.F.M. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Narrowsburg, NY.

MADELINE M. WALTER
Madeline M. Walter of Yulan, NY a housewife and longtime resident of the area, died on Monday, June 18, 2007 in a car accident in Pond Eddy, NY. She was 84.
The daughter of the late Henry and Amelia Steinmetz Meyer, she was born July 22, 1922 in New York City. She was married to Donald Walter who passed away in 1993.
A family statement reads, Madeline was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a sharp quick wit about her; she had a great sense of humor. We are shocked that she is no longer with us, we miss her smiling face. A big part of our lives is now missing, but our memories will live on.
She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Walter and his wife Noreen of Fort Johnson, NY and Thomas Walter of Yulan; one daughter, Jane Walter of Niceville, FL; three grandchildren, Gisella Walter, Rosanna Ely and her husband David and Christina Knobel; two great grandchildren, Jackie and Caleb; three step grandchildren, Duane Miller, Ronald Miller and Andrew Miller, many step great grandchildren; one brother, Joseph Meyer of Eldred, NY; and one sister, Lillian Wachter of Barryville, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Madeline is predeceased by her husband; three brothers, Frankie, Johnny and Henry Meyer; and a sister, Catherine Warden.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Yulan, NY. Burial took place at St. Anthonys Cemetery, Eldred, NY.

AARON FOPPE ZYLSTRA
Aaron Foppe Zylstra went fishing with God on Friday, June 8, 2007. He was 29.
The son of John and Karen Zylstra, he was born in North Hampton, MA on January 11, 1978. He lived most of his life in Brevard County, FL.
Aaron was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He was an avid fisherman, surfer, skateboarder and loved animals of all kinds. The twinkle of his eyes and the genuine smile he shared will remain in the hearts of all whose lives he touched with love. He attended Brevard County Community College in Melbourne, CA where he earned an Associates of Arts Degree, graduating this past May. He had been accepted to attend both the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and the University of South Florida in Tampa where he planned to study architecture.
In addition to his father of Johnson, NY and his mother of Indialantic, FL, he is survived by his stepmother, Bonnie; his stepfather, Tom Terrell; brothers Christopher Zylstra and his wife Kristen of Norcross, GA and Tom Terrell, at home; sisters, Michele and Lisa Terrell of Florida; maternal grandmother Emily of Florida; paternal grandmother Tina Zylstra of Andover, NJ formerly of Cochecton NY; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in Florida, New York and New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Foppe (Frank) Zylstra of Andover, formerly of Cochecton.
A Celebration of Life was held in memoriam of Aaron, Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbour Beach, FL.
