This young snapping turtle was spotted crossing the road in Shohola, probably looking for food or habitat. The three-inch-long youngster got a lift to the edge of the road, and safety.

This female merganser and her brood of young navigate swift water of the Delaware River near Barryville, NY. Mergansers are excellent swimmers, and the young were doing a good job of staying together with mom.
Wild kids
If you have walked in the fields or woods lately, or even driven by these places, you may have noticed some increased wildlife activity in the past few weeks.
