Couple creates model for cheese operation

TYLER HILL, PA - “We think local farmers can produce cheese like ours; they can do it,” said Dick Barrett who, with his wife Carol, has created a cheese-making operation using milk from local dairies.

Although it’s not easy, dairy farmers could do it with help from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, just as dairy farmers in Vermont got a huge boost from the government of that New England state.

“About 10 years ago, political leaders in Vermont saw that the crisis in dairy farming was coming, just as we are seeing in Pennsylvania now, but they did something about it,” Barrett said.

Chris Morris sentenced to 10 years in prison

Incident triggered by illness; wife ‘will not abandon him’

MONTICELLO, NY—William “Chris” Morris was sentenced to 10 years in prison. At the sentencing in a courtroom in Monticello on May 30, Judge Frank LaBuda said Morris had “fallen through the cracks” of the system.

Rally referendum shot down

Board contemplates public hearing instead

NARROWSBURG, NY—In response to the growing controversy over the Rally New York contests on the roads of Tusten, the town board voted on May 24 to let the voters decide. The board voted unanimously to hold a binding public referendum on the issue on June 18.
