Yelle designed the posters, which were unveiled at the literature exchange at Holiday Mountain in Bridgeville on May 17. The posters will be available for purchase at the Sullivan County Visitor’s Center in Monticello, as well as several area businesses.

Tourism businesses congregate

Literature exchange packs ’em in again this year

BRIDGEVILLE, NY—A rack card is a low tech and effective form of advertising that tourism industries in Sullivan County depend on. And at an annual event called the literature exchange, tourism businesses and nonprofits exchange rack cards in an effort to network and support each other’s endeavors.

The fifth literature exchange was held at Holiday Mountain Fun Park on May 17 as local businesses gear up for the unofficial start of the summer season on Memorial Day. It is sponsored by the Sullivan County Visitors Association.

Charlie Sanborn, proprietor of Cinder Track Bicycles in Livingston Manor, is in his third year of business. Asked what would make a good season for him, he didn’t miss a beat and answered, “no floods.”

New casino advocacy group

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY—A new casino advocacy group has formed with the purpose of promoting the proposed casino at Mighty M Gaming. Specifically the group, called Future of the Catskills Coalition, intends to draw attention to opportunities for local businesses to take advantage of the casino, if it becomes a reality.

Norden resigns school board post

Reason for decision could be personal or due to election fallout

WESTERN SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY—Only 10 months after being voted into office by a board that seemingly had been given a mandate for reform by voters, president Arthur Norden unexpectedly submitted his resignation to the Sullivan West Board of Education.
