Honesdale farmers market back for the season
HONESDALE, PA The Wayne County Farmers Market launches its 2007 summer season on Saturday, May 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., behind the Wayne County Visitors Center, on 303 Commercial Street. The market will be open rain or shine every Saturday through October 27.
Throughout the season, customers will find a wide range of home-grown and homemade items including fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs; shrubs, bedding plants and flowers; meat, eggs and cheese; bread and all kinds of baked goods; fudge and ice cream; hand-crafted household items; knit and crocheted clothing, soap, jewelry, and more.
Among this years several new vendors is Matt Shaffer of Matts Farm Market, Hamlin Highway near Hamlin Corners, joining the market to sell his own seasonal vegetables including sweet corn, tomatoes, green beans, garlic, onions, zucchini, summer and winter squash, pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks, Indian corn and more. Roberta Holcomb of Hawley joins the market to sell seasonal vegetables, as well as cut and potted herbs and flowers from her familys Victory Hills Farm in Richford, NY. Cheese makers Jay and Emily Montgomery of Calkins Creamery bring their farmstead artisan cheeses to the market this year, and naturalist Nathaniel Whitmore hopes to sell naturally-grown vegetables and fruits, wild-crafted mushrooms, vegetables and fruits, as well as homemade herbal products including tinctures and salves.
Numerous other vendors will be returning, many of them adding new items to their lines.
