MARIO A. BUDA
Mario A. Buda of Lady Lake, FL, a retired New York City police officer, passed away Thursday, April 12, 20007 in Marietta, GA. He was 78.
He was born in New York City and moved to Lady Lake, FL years ago from Milford, PA.
Mario was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War era in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. In Florida he was a member of The Villages Explorers Club, member of the police and fire retirees of The Villages, member of the Milford Masonic Lodge, and a member of The Villages Masonic Lodge. He was a retired New York City Police officer with the communication division in Milford, first police commissioner, chief deputy sheriff for Pike County, and with the cooperation of the Delaware Valley School System was instrumental in bringing the DARE program to Pike County. He was honored to be a personal New York City police escort to Pope John Paul II on his visitation to New York City. He served 10 years as a township supervisor for Westfall Township, PA and was an active member of the Pike County Republican Party. He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, The Villages, FL.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Buda of Lady Lake, FL; sons, Marion C. Buda of Nebraska City, NE, Michael J. Buda of Sparrow Bush, NY, Joel S. Palmer of Crafton, PA, Christopher P. Buda of Mt. Lebanon, PA and Anthony J. Buda of Milford, PA; a daughter, Elizabeth P. Irish of Parkdale, OR; and 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys Jordan Buda and grandson, Joshua Palmer.
Memorial services for Mr. Buda were held on Tuesday, April 14, 2007 in Florida, and interment was held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

PETER J. CHRIST
Peter J. Christ of Brooksville, FL, formerly of Cochecton, NY, died April 27, 2007 in Florida. He was 57.
The son of Stella Caruana Christ and the late Peter Christ, he was born on May 4, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY.
Peter was a retired New York Police Department officer, former owner of the Lakeview Luncheonette in Lake Huntington and a former Town of Cochecton Highway Superintendent. He was also a member of the New York Police Department Policemans Benevolent Association.
He is survived by his wife Kathy of 16 years; his mother, Stella Christ of Brooklyn; a sister, Rosanne Malone and her husband Daniel of Brooklyn; his children, Vanessa DeGori and her husband Rocco of Milanville, PA, Peter Christ III and his wife Laura of Germany and JoAnn Filippo of New Jersey; his stepchildren, Dana Grisafe and her husband Phil of Cochecton, NY, Frank Ennis and his wife Lisa of Pinellas Park, FL; several grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
He was predeceased by his father, Peter Christ.
Services were held on Wednesday, May 2 at Holy Cross Church in Callicoon. Father Ignatius Smith OFM officiated. Burial was in the Fosterdale Cemetery in Fosterdale, NY.

KATHRYN DANCHAK
Kathryn Danchak of Bethel, NY passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale, PA. She was 89.
She was born June 16, 1917 in Simpson, PA. She was the widow of John Danchak Sr.
She worked as a beautician, clothing storeowner, the owner of the Nutshell Hotel in Lake Huntington, NY and the owner of Hunter Lake in Bethel.
She is survived by her son, John Danchak Jr. and his wife Kay; three children, John III and his wife Lisa of East Brunswick, NJ, Bill of Hunter Lake, Bethel and Liane of Damascus, PA; a grandson; and a sister, Rose Harris of Simpson.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, John Danchak Sr. and a son, David Danchak.
Graveside services were held Sunday, May 6 at the Kenoza Lake Cemetery.

JOSE A. GONZALEZ
Jose A. Gonzalez, of Middletown, NY died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Northeast Center for Special Care, Lake Katrine, NY. He was 68.
The son of Jose and Maria Louisa Vierra Gonzalez, he was born in San Turce, PR on November 11, 1938.
Jose was a retired ambulette driver in White Plains, NY and a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Middletown.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Luz Leoto Gonzalez at home; two daughters, Yolanda Riley and her husband Kevin of Glen Spey, NY and Annette Pesante and her husband Jose of Middletown; his son, Edward Gonzalez and his wife Celia of North Bergen, NJ; five grandchildren, Yvonne, Eric, Joseph III, Jennifer and Jon.
A Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 in St. Joseph Church, Middletown. Interment followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Middletown.
EDWARD W. PAPARELLA
Edward W. Paparella of Milanville, PA died on Friday, April 27, 2007 in Fayetteville, NC following an illness. He was 71.
The son of the late John and Lucia Castranova Paparella, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 8, 1935. In 1944, the family settled in Milanville.
Edward graduated from Damascus High School, class of 1953. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a former dairy farmer and was employed by Waste Management in Beach Lake. He was a member of St. Bernards and St. Josephs churches.
He is survived by two brothers, John Paparella of Fort Pierce, FL and Vincent Paparella of Lumberton, NC; 18 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard Paparella and Eugene Paparella.
A memorial Mass was held on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Narrowsburg, NY. Interment was in St. Lucys Cemetery.

MARGARET REDARD
Margaret Redard of Hankins, NY, homemaker and formerly of Park Ridge, NJ, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007. She was 85.
The daughter of the late Michael and Mary Youwacum Atta, she was born May 25, 1921 in Emerson, NJ. She was the widow of Louis Jean Redard.
Margaret was a member of the Callicoon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael and Kenneth Redard, both of Hankins; one sister, Grace Williamson of Park Ridge, NJ; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the Callicoon United Methodist Church, Route 97, Callicoon, NY at 11:00 a.m. with the Pastor Peg Van Siclen officiating.
Memorial contributions in Margarets name may be made to the Callicoon United Methodist Church or to the Park Ridge Fire Department.
LOUIS MARTIN RUPNICK
Louis Martin Rupnick, a retired life underwriter with Equitable Life, and a 25-year resident of Glen Spey, NY, entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2007 at Belle Reve Nursing Facility in Milford, PA. He was 97.
He was born in Slovenia in 1910. He came to the U.S. as an infant with his parents.
Louis was a lifetime member of St. Cyrils Church, the Slovenian Church in lower Manhattan, and since 1982 of Sacred Heart Church in Pond Eddy, NY. He was a member of the Lumberland Lions Club and John Cardinal OConner Council of Knights of Columbus of Yulan, NY. He was also a member of the former Port Jervis Chess Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helga, at home; twin daughters, Marianne Antolino and her husband Anthony of Nanuet, NY and Mary Lou Palmer of Laurel, NY; one son, Louis S. Rupnick of Greenport, NY; two sisters-in-law, Rose Rupnick of Riverhead, NY and Hilde Hey of Idar-Oberstein, Germany; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He will be missed by all.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Antoinette Urso and Valentina Peterka; his brother, Stanley Rupnick; and his son-in-law, Russell Palmer.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 4, 2007 with a prayer at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Pond Eddy with the Rev. Anthony Moore officiating. Burial was in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.
ELIZABETH M. WEISS
Elizabeth M. Weiss, formerly of Callicoon, NY and the widow of Edwin Weiss, died January 5, 2007 in Sebring, Florida. She was 103.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at the Callicoon Cemetery.
MINNA WERNER
Minna Werner, a former resident and owner and operator of Minnas Beauty Salon in Eldred, NY died on Saturday, April 21, 2007. She was 95.
The daughter of the late Fredrich and Katherine Thulke, she was born on August 29, 1911 in Kiel, Germany.
She is survived by her daughter, Monica Gunther of Norwalk, CT.
Services and burial were private.
