Kids study nature, create art at Grey Towers
MILFORD, PA The Pocono Arts Council and the U.S. Forest Service at Grey Towers National Historic Site offer a unique art and nature program for children and their parents (or guardians) that combines art with the science of nature.
Art and Nature Study for Families is designed for children aged six to 11. Artist Mary Paterson will use the spring and early summer seasons and special landscape features at Grey Towers to hone childrens observation skills, increase knowledge of our natural world and create art. The childs parent/guardian also will participate.
The dates for the program for children nine to 11 are Wednesday April 25, May 9, May 23 and June 6, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. For children six through eight, program dates are Saturday April 28, May 12, May 26 and June 9, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Activities will include painting the cherry tree in the Grey Towers landscape, gathering flower petals to press, using the pressed flowers to make notecards, learning calligraphy, watching and drawing birds and making a bird mobile.
