New Delaware River guide and maps available

DELAWARE RIVER REGION — The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) recently announced the release of a new guide to the Delaware River from Hancock, NY, to Trenton, NJ. The project was managed by the Delaware River Greenway Partnership, one of seven organizations involved in its completion.

The guide provides recreational river users with useful information to plan safe, environmentally friendly outings on the 200-mile stretch of non-tidal river. The Delaware River Water Trail is one of more than 150 designated water trails throughout the United States. The guide is available free of charge at the Upper Delaware Council in Narrowsburg and will soon become available at other area locations.

Development of the guide coincided with the production of newly updated Delaware River Recreation Maps by the DRBC. The maps feature detailed river conditions such as rapids, waterfalls, channels, islands, bridges, public access points and local road networks. Paddling difficulty levels are included, as well as riverside facilities like restrooms, parking and picnic areas. The waterproof maps sell for $25 per set and are available through the DRBC website at www.state.nj.us/drbc/recreation.htm.
