Port’s streetscapes celebrated in art on its centennial

PORT JERVIS, NY — There will be a one-day art event presented by the Port Jervis Centennial Celebration at the Port Jervis Municipal Building, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15. Local artists will display paintings, drawings and sculpture. Artwork will include local scenes and historic buildings from Port Jervis. A cake-cutting ceremony is planned for 1:00 p.m., and music will be provided bya local music teacher, Dana Lasch.

In another celebration of the town’s centennial, an ongoing show sponsored by the River Valley’s Artist’s Guild of Port Jervis, “Part II: River Valley Guild Seven,” will be on display through Friday, June 22 at 156 Pike Street. The show, held in the lobby of Dr. Jeff Parker, also celebrates Parker’s 30th year in practice in Port Jervis. The multimedia group show features artists Claudia Bocker, Anita Drumming, Rosalind Hodgkins, Joan Kehlenbeck, Susan Miiller, Jeff Parker and Elaine Cardella Tedesco. Hours are Monday through Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday by appointment.
