Port’s streetscapes celebrated in art on its centennial

PORT JERVIS, NY—There will be a one-day art event presented by the Port Jervis Centennial Celebration at the Port Jervis Municipal Building, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15. Local artists will display paintings, drawings and sculpture. Artwork will include local scenes and historic buildings from Port Jervis. A cake-cutting ceremony is planned for 1:00 p.m., and music will be provided bya local music teacher, Dana Lasch.

The best moments of the double feature “Grindhouse”—and they usually come in long stretches of joy—understand that while actual grindhouse movies were about delivering sex and violence in copious amounts, the best of them were also full-fledged movies in their own right that had honest concepts about how best to dole out that sleaze. They weren’t just masturbatory fantasies—they were crafted with love, and in many ways represented cinema in its purest form.

Chasing Daybreak to headline at Liberty’s TeamSkate concert

LIBERTY, NY—Chasing Daybreak, one of the Hudson Valley’s up-and-coming rock bands, will headline a benefit concert for Liberty’s TeamSkate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, in the gym of the Liberty Elementary School on North Main Street. The concert will also feature The Comeback Tour from Poughkeepsie and the Sullivan County band Sofmoure (formerly known as Disarray).
