Ackermann named Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week

Former Sullivan West track star continues to shake it up at the next level

COBLESKILL, NY - The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced on March 25 that freshman April Ackermann of Cochecton, NY, a graduate of Sullivan West High School and a member of the women’s outdoor track and field team, has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.

The freshman distance runner won the 10,000 meters at the 2007 Dick Shea Invitational hosted by the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY on March 24. Ackermann bettered the field, posting a NJCAA National Qualifying time of 42:24.86 on the afternoon.

The Fighting Tigers continued their drive toward the 2007 NJCAA Division III National Championships with a number of stellar performances in the non-scoring 2007 Muhlenberg College Invitational hosted by Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA on March 31.

Ackermann improved her national qualifying time in both the 800 meters and the 1500 meters. Ackermann placed seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.93, and ninth in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:14.85.
