‘Grizzly Man’ at Monday Night Cinema

HONESDALE, PA — Continuing its spring series of films with a back-to-nature theme, the Wayne County Arts Alliance will present Werner Herzog’s celebrated documentary film from 2005, “Grizzly Man,” at 8:15 p.m. on April 16 at Cinema 6. The film explores the life (and death) of “grizzly man” Timothy Treadwell, who spent 13 summers living in a wildlife refuge on Kodiak Island in Alaska.

Herzog uses Treadwell’s own videos to tell his story, adding interviews with the grizzly man’s friends and parents and providing his own commentary about the eccentric man. After its release, the film won numerous awards for best documentary, including one from the Directors Guild of America. According to New Yorker film critic David Denby, the film is “the ultimate nature documentary.”

A donation of $5 per person is asked, to help support the activities of the Arts Alliance. The film will be preceded by a short introduction and followed by a discussion among audience members. Cinema Six is located in the Route 6 Shopping Plaza.
