SANDRA A. BOLTON

Sandra A. Bolton, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, March 23, 2007 at her home. She was 61.

The daughter of the late Charles “Al” Sharkey and Buelah Comstock Sharkey, she was born January 25, 1946 in Callicoon, NY.

Sandra was a retired bookkeeper for Sullivan County Department of Public Health, Liberty, NY. She was a member of the Eldred United Methodist Church, she was active with the Eldred American Legion, and a part of the Town of Highland Democratic Committee.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Bolton and his wife Staci of Lawrence-ville, NJ and Steven Bolton and his wife Karen of Clermont, FL; her step-brother, Alfred Wells of the State of Florida; and three grandchildren, Julian, Cole and Stefanie.

She was predeceased by her stepmother, Florence Sharkey.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the Eldred United Methodist Church, Eldred, NY with Rev. Linda Bohs officiating. Burial was in Montoza Cemetery, Barryville, NY.

PAULINE CLUNE

Pauline “Polly” Clune of Port Jervis, NY died Sunday, March 25, 2007 at St. Joseph´s Place, Port Jervis. She was 91.

She was born October 2, 1915 in Hancock, NY. She was married to the late Francis M. Clune who died June 15, 1958.

Polly was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Port Jervis, Catholic Daughters of Americas, Court Madonna No. 114, Port Jervis. She then joined the Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance Corp. where she served for more than 15 years. She was the past president of the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary where she helped with many fund raisers. Polly was the past secretary for the Port Jervis Democratic Committee. She also worked with the Red Cross Blood Mobiles and helping the flood victims of Port Jervis. Polly worked for eight years in the Monticello Hospital as a nurse and seven years in Dr. Sunnyside Hospital, and many years in the St. Francis Hospital. Home nursing was one of Polly’s greatest jobs in life helping and caring for sick people. She often had in-home patients for two to three years, and many often didn’t have money to pay her so she did it because nursing was a true love of hers.

A family statement read, “Polly was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother to her 105 grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends that she touched in her 91 years.”

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Clune and his wife Sherry of Bumpass, VA, Francis Clune of Port Jervis, Clare Clune of Port Jervis, Daniel Clune and his wife Sharon of Port Jervis and Donald Clune and his wife Maryann of Sparrowbush, NY; her daughters, Sally Enright of Port Jervis, Betty Clune of Sherburne, NY, Maryann Clune of Sidney, NY and Rosemarie Clune of Port Jervis; 35 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren

She was predeceased by her daughter–in-law, Laura Clune.

The Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Madonna No. 114 and The Roosa Fleming VFW Post #161 Ladies Auxillary held services. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2007 with a 10:15 a.m. prayer at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 46 Ball St., Port Jervis, NY. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Jervis.

ANTHONY A. KAISER

Army Specialist Anthony A. Kaiser, a lifelong resident of Narrowsburg, NY, died March 17, 2007 in Balad, Iraq. He was 27. Anthony was assigned to the 504th Military Police Battalion, 42nd Military Police Brigade, Fort Lewis, WA.

The son of Andrew Kaiser and the late Stephanie Castellano Kaiser, he was born on December 13, 1979 in Honesdale, PA.

Anthony was a member of St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg. He was a member of the Narrowsburg Fire Department and the East Stroudsburg Moose Lodge, East Stroudsburg, PA.

A family statement reads, “Anthony was a special person. He was a loving husband, son, brother and a great friend to many. Staff Sergeant Parker wrote a letter to Heather stating Anthony was referred to as the ‘Quiet Professional;’ the other soldiers had to work very hard to keep up with Anthony. He never complained and had such a positive attitude. He will truly be missed.”

He is survived by his wife, Heather; his father, Andrew and stepmother, Marilyn Kelly; a brother, Staff Sergeant Steven Kaiser; a stepbrother, Michael Kelly; and a stepsister, Kristen Kelly.

He is predeceased by his mother, Stephanie and his brother, Brian.

Visitation was held on Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 90 Main Street, Narrowsburg, NY 12764. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at St. Francis Xavier R.C. Church, Narrowsburg. Christian burial followed the mass at St. Francis Cemetery, Narrowsburg. Rev. William Scully O.F.M. officiated.

CLARA E. NOLL

Clara E. Noll of Preston Township, PA died Saturday at home after an illness. She was the wife of Robert A. Noll, and they had been married for 31 years. She was 81.

Daughter of the late William and Emma Broh Munzlinger, she was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Clara was involved with the Northern Wayne County Library sewing group and enjoyed quilting.

She is survived by three daughters, Lynda Miceli of Beach Lake, PA, Nancy Guenther of Chesterton, IN and Heidi Caminiti of Clarks Summit, PA; one brother, Carl Munzlinger; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven stepchildren.

She was predeceased in death by a brother, Herman Munzlinger.

Services and internment will be held at the convenience of the family.

IWANNA NYCHKA

Iwanna Nychka of Astoria, NY and a former resident of Glen Spey, NY died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the New York Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Astoria. She was 93.

The daughter of the late Ilyas and Stasyshyn Skoczylas Hornecka, she was born September 11, 1913 in Ukraine.

Iwanna was the widow of the late Alexander Nychka,who died September 8, 1993. She was a member of St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Spey.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Bohdan Nychka of Astoria; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Christina Bohoslawec.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 24 at the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 East Main St., Port Jervis with a Liturgy Mass at St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church with the Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating. The Panachyda service was at 2:00 p.m. Burial was made in Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey.


LILLIAN B. STARKE

Lillian B. Starke of Yulan, NY, a 40-year resident of the area, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. She was 93.

The daughter of the late Thomas and Violet S. Kemp Barker, she was born December 2, 1913 in Brooklyn, NY. She was the widow of Conrad H. Starke.

Lillian was a retired engraver for Insulfab, Inc. in Rutherford, NJ. She was a member of St. Jacobi’s Lutheran Church, Shohola, PA; a member of Eclipse Chapter #226, Order of the Eastern Star, Lyndhurst, NJ; a member of the Highland Seniors Club; and the Tusten Senior Citizens.

She is survived by one sister, Virginia Nyman of Hackensack, NJ; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, great-grandnieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Wilfred Kemp Barker and two sisters, Frances Skidmore and Doris VanDeVelde.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis with the Rev. Robert Cassidy officiating. Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, NJ.

ROBERT AUGUST ZWISLER

Robert August Zwisler of Sparta, TN, formerly of Glen Spey, NY, retired from Sullivan County DPW, died March 21, 2007.

Son of the late August Zwisler and Ella Frey Zwisler, he was born on July 31, 1936.

Robert was a lifetime member and past chief of the Lumberland Fire Department, a past member of the Lumberland planning board and a very active member in the community.

He is survived by his sister, Jean Flieger and husband Ron of Woodridge, NY; a daughter, Teresa Vandermark and husband Kenneth of Rock Hill, NY; four sons, Patrick Meehan and fiancée Michele of Hyde Park, NY, Thomas Meehan and wife Sharon of Spencer, TN, Kirk Meehan and wife Bettie of Glen Spey and David Meehan and wife Patricia of Glen Spey; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Robert was predeceased by his wife, Inez Hocker Zwisler and son, Darin Zwisler.

Graveside services will be held on March 31, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., at the Glen Spey Cemetery, with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating.
