Tickets on sale for ‘Little Engine That Could’ festival

HONESDALE, PA — The full-size replica engine of the famous character, The Little Engine That Could, will make its first trip to Pennsylvania when it visits Honesdale, the birthplace of the American Railroad, in June. Tickets for the three-day event, to be held June 8 through 10, are on sale now at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.

The engine will make only 17 trips during the festival, to be held in the area near the visitors’ center in Honesdale, so event co-chair Donna LaBar encourages parents to buy their tickets early. Tickets cost $15.

“The festival will be filled with many fun things for kids to do,” LaBar said. “We’ll have face painting, interactive games, musical entertainment, a bounce house and so much more. We’ll even have characters from the book there to greet the children.”

For parents who may want to get their children acquainted with the book before the engine gets to Honesdale, copies of “The Little Engine That Could” are available for sale at the chamber office. Both the original version, for $8.99 plus tax, shipping and handling, and an updated version, for $17.99 plus tax, shipping and handling, are available.
