Eldred Preserve donates to local groups

ELDRED, NY — Eldred Preserve pulled out all the stops this season to raise money for 13 local organizations such as Lion’s Clubs, fire departments and support groups.

The Preserve ran a 40th Anniversary “thank you” program running from October to December in which each of the organizations had a week dedicated to it.

During that week, the Preserve donated 10 percent of all food and liquor sales to that group. The total amount for all 13 groups was approximately $5,000.

On January 27, the Preserve hosted a complimentary cocktail party to get everyone together in one room, and to present the checks.

About 30 people attended the event. This came as the Preserve is celebrating its 40th year, and support for local groups that enhance the community have been part of the Preserve’s activities throughout the years.

In a letter to the organizations, the Preserve wrote, “Volunteer organizations have always played a vital role in our area and we appreciate your efforts to make our community a better place.”

The organizations represented at the event were: Highland Lions Club, Lumberland Lions Club, Bethel Lions Club, Yulan Fire Department, Lumberland Fire Department, Highland Lake Fire Department, Lumberland Ladies Auxiliary, Highland Ladies Auxiliary, Eldred Parent Teachers Association, Eldred Parent Teacher Student Organization and the Sullivan County Armed Forces Support Group.
