‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ comes to CineArt

Imagination and reality intertwine in Del Toro’s dark fantasy

CALLICOON, NY—“Pan’s Labyrinth,” an internationally acclaimed film and winner of three Academy Awards, will be the CineArt presentation for March at Callicoon Theater. Showings of Guillermo Del Toro’s adult fairy tale will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 8; 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11; and 9:45 p.m. on March 11.

Set in Spain in 1944, the story is told through the eyes of a little girl whose imaginary world is inhabited by nightmarish creatures—echoing nightmares in the real world of fascist-era Spain she inhabits.

A winter’s tales

Native American stories for the hearthside

CALLICOON, NY—In the spirit of stories told by Native Americans on long winter evenings around the fire, the St. Oakerhater Guild of St. James Episcopal Church will present an afternoon of Native American storytelling at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11. Stories and poetry of various tribes will be presented by Mary Curtis, Anne Osborne, Nellie Burnham and Fred Howard. Listeners will be invited to participate in an open discussion afterwards.

Rockin’ Narrowsburg

NARROWSBURG, NY—Touring rock groups Corporate Disguise and Zelazowa will play a concert at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 at the Tusten Theatre at 210 Bridge Street. Corporate Disguise, led by Eric Hector of Narrowsburg, is kicking off a spring tour of the tri-state area. They recently completed recording their new album “Go West Young Man!” Zelazowa, from the Philadelphia area, will play music from their debut CD “PolyMorph.”
