FREDERICK H. ALBRECHT

Frederick H. Albrecht of White Lake, NY, a retired butcher and former owner of the A & W Meat Market in Monticello, NY died Monday, February 19, 2007 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 84.

The son of the late Herman Albrecht and Pauline Schneider Albrecht, he was born on March 4, 1922 in Monticello.

Fred served during Would War II with the United States Marines on the Solomon Islands. He was a member of the First Church of Monticello Presbyterian; Bailey Richman VFW Post #9588, Monticello; Bethel Lions Club; Monticello Elk’s Lodge #1544; and the Marine Corps League.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Sardonia Albrecht at home; two sons, Fred P. Albrecht of White Lake and Vincent H. Albrecht and his wife Bobbie Lynn of New Jersey; three daughters, Diane L. Staley and her husband John of Maryland, Loretta A. Diamante and her husband Russ of New Jersey and Ellen M. Bennett of Highland, NY; a brother, Eugene Albrecht and his wife Jean of Jupiter, FL; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Albrecht of Smallwood, NY; a sister-in-law, Ione Albrecht of White Lake; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held on Friday, February 23 at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home in Monticello.

DEBRA A. FALLON

Debra A. “Debbie” Fallon, a longtime area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday February 25, 2007 at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. She was 51.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Dicks Fallon, she was born on April 30, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY. She was a plumber for Silverman Mechanical in Mongaup Valley, NY.

Debbie is survived by her companion, Linda Vassmer at home; a daughter, Karen Fallon of Woburn, MA; four sisters, Pat Mulligan and husband Mike of Smallwood, NY, Wendy Fallon of Hyde Park, NY, Holly Fiedy and husband Nadr of California and Bonnie Reilly and husband Patrick of Brooklyn; two grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her mother, Jeanne Dixon.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 28 at the Ramsay’s Funeral Home, Kauneonga Lake. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Rodgers officiating. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope, NY.

FRANCES M. HULSE

Frances M. Hulse of Port Jervis, NY passed away Thursday, February 8, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Place. She was 83.

The daughter of the late Joshua and Bessie Conklin Aber, she was born August 6, 1923 in the Town of Deerpark, NY. She was married to the late Harold C. Hulse.

She is survived by her son, Gary Hulse and his fiancée Malloria Goble of Rio, NY; two daughters, Carol Cullinan and her husband Jim of Port Jervis and Barbara Doss and her husband Joseph of Sparrowbush; four sisters, Janie Nielsen of Matamoras, PA, Marie Roach of Port Jervis, Helen Kline of Hopewell Junction, NY, and Betty Ricena of Mifflenville, PA; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her two brothers, Charles and Leon Aber.

Funeral services were held on February 12, 2007 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis. Rev. Robert Cassidy officiated. Interment took place at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.


ARTHUR R. LAMBERT

Arthur R. Lambert, a retired mechanic for the Sullivan County Highway Dept. and a lifelong resident of the area, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Tide-Well & Palliative Care Center, Bradenton, FL. He was 91.

Son of the late Arthur and Mabel May Box Lambert, he was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY on April 26, 1915. He was the widower of Elsie Heusel Lambert.

Arthur was a member of the Eldred, NY United Methodist Church; Veteran of World War II, U.S. Army; member of the Eldred American Legion; life member of Sylvan-Liebla VFW Post, Eldred; Yulan Fire Dept., Highland Lake Fire Dept., and Fire Police; Eldred Senior Citizens; and Mountain Stream Hunting Club.

He is survived by three nieces, Ann Jackob of Brasher Falls, NY, Carolyn Ray of Asbury, NJ, and Jannine Bennett of Farmingdale, NJ, and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Lambert.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 2 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home with the Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Burial was in Montoza Cemetery, Eldred, with military honors.

KATHERINE RICHARDS

Katherine Richards of Damascus, PA died Sunday, February 10, 2007 in Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 47.

She was the daughter of the late Edward Richards and Elizabeth Burt Kendig, born in Paterson, NJ.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Wagner Century Oil, Youngsville, NY.

She is survived by her step-father, Vincent Kendig.

Funeral services were held on Friday, February 16 at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale, PA. Interment was held at the Hillside Cemetery, Damascus.


KARI YERSON

Kari Ryerson, an 18-year resident of the area, died Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. She was 69.

The daughter of the late Albert and Camilla Hansen Sandvand, she was born September 4, 1937 in Norway.

She is survived by her husband at home, Arvid J. Ryerson; one daughter, Anita Schoonmaker and her husband John of Glen Spey, NY; two sons, Roy Ryerson and Kevin Ryerson, both of Glen Spey; three grandchildren; two sisters, Gonvor and Maret both of Norway; two brothers Kare and Hans also of Norway, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in the funeral home on Friday, February 23, 2007 with the Rev. Martin Meder officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.


MARY E. SHERWOOD

Mary E. Sherwood died February 21, 2007 at her home after a brief illness. She was 86. She was married to the late Donald Sherwood.

She was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Hull Keesler. She was born in Conklin Hill, PA.

Mary was a graduate of Damascus High School and Bloomsburg College, receiving her teaching certificate. She taught at Damascus School for 23 years. She was involved in the local 4-H Club and taught Sunday school.

She is survived by four sons, James of Galilee, PA, Gerald and wife Karen of Galilee, David and wife Pat of Manheim, PA, Jack and wife Diane of Troy, AL; two daughters, Mary Ann Sherwood of Honesdale, PA and Donna Sherwood of Apollo Beach, FL.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three sisters and their husbands, Virginia and Richard Deighton, Roberta and Ernest Bortree and Doris and Vincent Mitchell.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 25, 2007 in Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, Honesdale.

AGNES M. SPIELMANN

Agnes M. Spielmann of Youngsville, NY, a lifelong area resident, died Monday, February 19, 2007 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 94.

The daughter of the late Edward L. and Amanda Engert McGuire, she was born September 25, 1912 in Hankins, NY.

Agnes was a secretary for Yaun Company in Liberty, NY. She was the 2002 Grand Marshal of the Jeffersonville Jamboree Parade; the 1996 Town of Callicoon RSVP Senior Citizen of the Year; the Youngsville Fire Company Honoree for Lifetime Community Service; a 40-year correspondent for the Sullivan County Democrat; and a member of many committees and organizations. From 1936-1945, she and her husband owned and operated a boarding house on East Hill.

She is survived by three sons, Karl and his wife Solveig of Washington, DC, Gary and his wife Wendy of Kinderhook, NY and Glenn of Youngsville; two sisters, Dorothy Gottschalk and her husband Phillip of Hankins, NY and Florence Bauer of Hankins, NY; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Karl in 1993 and two sisters, Helen and Bertha.

Visitation was on Thursday, February 22, 2007 in the Harris Funeral Home in Liberty. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 23, 2007 in the United Reformed Church of Youngsville with the Rev. Lee Andrews officiating. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery, Youngsville.

LUELLA A. (CORKY) TENBUS

Luella A. (Corky) Tenbus, of Narrowsburg, NY passed away Saturday, February 24th, 2007 at Ellen Memorial Home. She was 78. She was the wife of John Tenbus for 56 years.

The daughter of the late Arthur “Parker” and Annie (Klein) Dexter Luella, she was born in Honesdale, PA on September 21, 1928.

She was a graduate of Narrowsburg High School and she worked at Peck’s Market for 25 years. She was a past member of the Tusten Vol. Ambulance Corps and was a member of the “Fireside Good Times Gang.” She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed traveling and spoiling her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Tina and her husband Randall Pierce of Reno, NV and Judy and her husband Gary Eisenhauer of Lakeville, PA; a son, Terry Tenbus and his wife Margy of Lava, NY; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Murtha, Laura Alvarez and Emma Menotti.

A religious service was held at Rasmussen Funeral Home, Narrowsburg on Wednesday, February 28 with Rev. Phyllis Haynes officiating. Interment was in Glen Cove Cemetery.

LORETTA M. WHEELING

Loretta M. Wheeling, a lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, February 24, 2007 at Twin Cedars in Shohola, PA. She was 94.

The daughter of the late Edward C. and Mary Long Hoenninger, she was born May 27, 1912 in Lancaster, PA. She married the late Dr. Kenneth J. Wheeling on July 8, 1937.

A retired english teacher for the Port Jervis school system, Loretta was a member of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church in Matamoras, PA, a member and past Regent of Catholic Daughters of America and member and past president of the Mother’s Club, St. Mary’s Elementary School in Port Jervis, NY.

She is survived by one daughter, Bernadette Conry and her husband Thomas of Ocoee, FL; four sons, Kenneth Wheeling of Monkton, VT, Joseph Wheeling and his wife Sharon of Joplin, MO, Robert A. Wheeling and his wife Laura of Middletown, NY and Richard A. Wheeling of Milford, CT; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at 9:45 a.m. at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Matamoras with the Rev. Robert Porpora and the Rev. August Ricciardi officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.
