DRBC to hold flood mitigation meeting
WEST TRENTON, NJ The Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) will hold the first of four meetings on flood mitigation in Delhi, NY at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8.
The meetings are designed to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the Interstate Flood Mitigation Task Forces flood loss reduction and flood mitigation draft recommendations for the Delaware River Basin. The draft report now appears on the commissions web site at www.drbc.net.
The meeting will be held at the Senator Charles D. Cook County Office Building, 111 Main Street, on the main floor in the Board of Supervisors room.
Written comments will be accepted until Feb. 28, 2007, and should be mailed to: Robert Tudor, Deputy Executive Director, DRBC, P.O. Box 7360, 25 State Police Drive, West Trenton, NJ 08628.
The task force has concluded that no set of mitigation measures will entirely eliminate impacts of flooding along the Delaware River, but the members believe that a combination of measures will improve the basins resiliencyits capacity to prepare for and recover from floodingin the future, said DRBC Executive Director Carol R. Collier
The recommendations are divided into six priority management areas: reservoir operations; structural and non-structural measures; stormwater management; floodplain mapping; floodplain regulation; and flood warning.
