JOAN ANGERMANN

SCRANTON, PA — Joan Angermann of Fawn Lake Forest, Hawley, died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Mercy Hospital. She was 61.

The daughter of the late John and Edith Junke Heitman, she was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 21, 1945.

Angermann was a homemaker and a loving grandmother. She was the president of the Lackawaxen Ambulance Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Angermann; two daughters, Lisa Angermann of Ft. Pierce, FL and Linda Angermann of Hawley; one son, Richard Angermann Jr. of Rowland; and three grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

MICHAEL FRANCIS BERNAS

COCHECTON, NY — Michael Francis Bernas died at home on Monday, January 29, 2007. He was 51.

The son of John and Ann Eitner Bernas, he was born September 18, 1955 in Callicoon, NY.

Bernas was a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a truck driver for Sullivan County Paving.

He is survived by his sisters, Joan Ernst and Karen Bernas, both of Cochecton; his brother, John Bernas of Cochecton; and five nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

SIGNE K. BROWNE

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Signe K. Browne of Hopewell Junction died on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 60.

The daughter of Fred Simola and Sylvia Lehto, she was born November 5, 1946 in Harlem.

Browne served as office manager for A.C. Smith in Beacon for 17 years. She was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill and was formerly an officer for the Lomala Civic Association.

She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Browne, at home; her mother, Syliva Heinow of Boynton Beach, FL; her son, Michael Browne Jr. and his wife Kalan of Sparrowbush; her stepsons, Mike DelVescovi and his wife Linda of Wappingers Falls, Joe DelVescovi and his wife Tanya of Hopewell Junction; four step-grandchildren; and her brother, Fred Simola and his wife Valerie of California.

She was predeceased by her sister, Sandra Simola.

Interment is at the convenience of he family.

THELMA HOFFMAN

HANKINS, NY — Thelma Hoffman, a resident of Fremont Center, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2007. She was 98.

The daughter of the late Charles and Ida Rose Hughs, she was born August 30, 1908 in Callicoon.

A lifetime area resident, Hoffman was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Obernburg, St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society and Bluebirds Home Bureau of Fremont Center.

She is survived by four daughters, Kay Bacon and husband Jim of Raleigh, NC, Marcia Bauer and husband Len of Hankins, Charlotte Ida Rosenberger and husband George of Fremont Center and Linda Charnok and husband Tom of Clarence; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Hoffman.

Services were held on Saturday, January 26 at St. Mary’s Church in Obernburg with Father Gus Richardson, OFM, officiating.

GEORGE OLSEN JR

SCRANTON, PA — George Olsen Jr., of Lakewood, died on Thursday, January 25 at Mercy Hospital. He was 62.

The son of George and Sarah Segar Olsen, he was born October 1, 1944 in Callicoon, NY.

Olsen was a machinist at Poppo Machine Shop. He was a member of the Northern Wayne Christian Fellowship church.

He is survived by his siblings, Howard Olsen of Liberty, NY, Melvin Olsen of Scottsville, KY, Helen Hanslmaier of Jeffersonville, NY, Marion Baker of Livingston Manor, NY and Herbert Olsen of Liberty; his aunt, Ruth Segar of Jeffersonville; several foster children; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville with the Reverend Lee Andrews officiating.

Interment is at Fosterdale Cemetery in Fosterdale, NY.

MARIA RESZKA

COCHECTON CENTER, NY — Maria Reszka died at home on Tuesday, January 23, 2007. She was 89.

The daughter of the late Jozef and Wiktoria Romanowska Ogonek, she was born November 25, 197 in Poland.

A longtime area resident, Reszka was a retired quality control inspector for Equitable in Long Island. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church in Lake Huntington. She was a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society, Sunshine Club, Catskill Art Society, Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, National Museum Women in the Arts in Washington DC, and Senior Art Program with Bob Pointer.

A family statement said: “Maria was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved to paint beautiful paintings.”

She is survived by her daughter Christina Chmura; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two children, Bogdan Wozniak and Jacek Wozniak.

Services were held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg with the Reverend William Scully, OFM, officiating.

Interment is at Laurel Cemetery in Cochecton Center.
