A clinic, a concert, and all that jazz
LIBERTY, NY The Liberty Central School (LCS) Department of Music will host the 11th Annual Liberty Jazz Festival concert at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3 in the Middle School gymnasium. The concert will feature high school and middle school jazz ensembles from Liberty and Monticello. Before the concert, at 3:00 p.m., the students will have the opportunity to participate in an afternoon with a renowned jazz educator in a non-competitive, constructive format, according to festival chairman and LCS Music Director Gary Siegel.
This years clinician is trumpeter Christopher Weber. Weber has been an instrumental music instructor for Union-Endicott schools in Endicott, New York for over 25 years and has been directing the jazz ensemble program at Broome County Community College since 1997. He is active as a performer throughout New York State, playing trumpet regularly with a variety of musical organizations, including PRISM, Jazz Exchange, The Southern Tier Brass Quintet, The Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, and the internationally known Sammy Kaye Orchestra. For many years Weber has played trumpet in back-up bands for such performers as Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons, Natalie Cole, Kenny Rogers, Engelbert Humperdinck and Liberace.
Suggested donation for the concert is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and students. There is a maximum family cost of $20. Tickets will be on sale at the door.
