Sullivan Renaissance to hold garden seminar

FERNDALE, NY — Sullivan Renaissance will hold a seminar titled “Planning Your Garden—Right Plant—Right Place” on Wednesday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the CVI Building. Sullivan County BOCES instructor Robert Hayes will present practical solutions for challenges such as watering and maintenance.

If groups and individuals want to be planting in the spring, then it is helpful to plan the garden in January and order seeds in February. Working with students from the BOCES Natural Resources Program, Hayes will talk about garden location, soil preparation, plant selection, maintenance schedule, year round plantings and garden design ideas.

“It all starts with the location and the soil; then it’s a question of putting the right plant in the right place,” Hayes says.

The seminar is sponsored by Sullivan Renaissance, The Sullivan County Division of Planning and Community Development, and the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development.

Refreshments will be available. RSVP by January 8.
