Nature in two and three dimensions
Sculpture joins photography in EagleFest art show
NARROWSBURG, NY One of the features of this years sixth annual EagleFest, scheduled for Saturday, January 13, will be a photography and sculpture show called Natures Art at the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance Gallery on Main Street. On display will be the photographs of John DiGiorgio and the sculpture of George Boudman.
DiGiorgio is a co-founder of the festival and president and chairman of the Delaware Valley Eagle Alliance, which sponsors the event, as well as a seasoned nature photographer.
The human element and the spiritual aspects of nature are what inspires my photographs, he says. He has been photographing for nearly 20 years, with projects including Native Americans of the South West; Ellis Island Unseen, Spirit of the Wolf and The Alaskan Grizzly as well as his work with eagles.
Boudman, who lives in the Upper Delaware Valley and teaches at Pleasant Valley High School, says, One day when I was of preschool age, my dad handed me a big, gnarly tree root complete with ingrown rocks. This root was the last artifact of an old oak tree that existed on a nearby farm since well before my time. My mom and I could easily see its arduous lifes journey engrained in its twisting structure. The image and tactile quality of that root launched me into my lifelong journey of searching out abstract forms in nature.
