Liberty Bell Drop ushers in bicentennial

LIBERTY, NY — A tradition since 1995, Liberty’s annual Bell Drop ceremony on December 31st will be extra special this year, as it marks the official kick-off to the Town of Liberty’s Bicentennial Year, 2007. It will be the first of many events to celebrate the town’s 200 year history.

Host for the event will be local resident and actor Tony Darrow, known to audiences through his movie and TV work (“Goodfellas,” “The Sopranos,” “Small Time Crooks,” “Analyze This,” to name but a few). Seanachie’s Pub on North Main Street will provide alcohol-free champagne.

Radio station WVOS will broadcast live from the location outside the Liberty Museum on South Main Street. Details for the evening’s schedule will be published shortly. The Liberty Bell Drop is a joint production by the Liberty Bicentennial Committee, the Greater Liberty Chamber of Commerce and the Liberty Community Development Corporation.
