CONO BENCIVENGA
HONESDALE, PA Cono Bencivenga, a resident of Equinink, died Friday, November 24 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was 76.
The son of the late Emanuel and Lena Bencivenga, he was born in Brooklyn on October 16, 1930.
Bencivenga was a former resident of Bayshore, NY, where he worked at Entenmanns Bakery as a mechanic. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Honesdale.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Luchen Bencivenga; three sons, Cono Bencivenga of Beth Page, NY, Emanuel of Equinunk and John Bencivenga of Hancock, NY; his daughter, Elaine Bencivenga of Walton, NY; a brother, Dominic Bencivenga of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters, Tillie Palino and Antoinette Scotto, both of Staten Island, NY; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Friday, December 1, 2006 at St. Josephs Church in Rileyville with Fr. Edward Finn officiating.
Interment is at St. Josephs Cemetery.
HOWARD BRADDOCK
FORKED RIVER, NJ Howard Braddock died on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at home.
He was the son of the late James J. and Mae Braddock.
Braddock was a resident of Forked River and North Branch, NY. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired member of the Operating Engineers Local 825. He had many fond memories of spending summer weekends at the Braddock family home in North Branch. His father was the former heavyweight boxing champion known as The Cinderella Man, whose story was portrayed in the movie by the same name.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Elsie Urschler, of Braddock; two daughters, Susan Varites and Nancy Komorowski and her husband, Peter; a son, Timothy Braddock, and his wife, Beverly; a son-in-law, Frank Varites; and 10 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jay Braddock; and his sister, Rosemarie DeWitt.
BETTY H. FREY
HONESDALE, PA Betty H. Frey of Narrowsburg, NY died Thursday, November 30, 2006 at Ellen Memorial Health Care. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Ewald and Louise Brunnet Muller, she was born January 24, 1912 in Germany.
Frey was a co-owner of Beaverbrook Farms and Boarding House and a longtime resident of the area.
She is survived by her husband, James, of Waterloo, NY; her niece, Gisela Box, of Waterloo; and several nieces and nephews in Germany.
She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip.
Services were held on December 2 at Rasmussen Funeral Home in Narrowsburg.
Interment is at Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg.
FRANK J. GRECK
LOWER SAUCON TOWNSHIP, PA Frank J. Greck, a resident of Lackawaxen, died on Friday, November 24, 2006 at the VNA Hospice at St. Lukes. He was 66.
The son of the late Frank J. and Frances Karpinsky Greck, he was born in Somerville, NJ.
Greck graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic at Dover Air Force Base until his discharge in 1965. He was an executive manager at Supermarket General Corp. in Woodbridge, NJ. He was a member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Hawley.
He is survived by his son, Michael J. Greck and his wife Ellen of Nazareth; a daughter, Terri Eckloff and her husband Jeff of Bath; three sisters, Gloria Derflinger and her husband Ed of Lords Valley, Varol Donato and her husband John of Belgrade, ME and Donna Compasano of the state of Washington; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at the Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home in Nazareth.

DOROTHY R. GUSWELLER
WAYMART, PA Dorothy R. Gusweller died on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Wayne Woodlands Manor. She was 94.
The daughter of the late Alfred F. and Anna L. Depp Gusweller, she was born in Manhattan, NY.
Gusweller was a retired secretary for Hearst Publishing. She attended the Grace Episcopal Church in Honesdale.
She is survived by her brother, the Reverend James A. Gusweller of Equinunk; her sister, Florence Roberts of Annapolis, MD; six nephews, Raymond, Michael, Ernesto and Stephen Gusweller, and Melvin and Kenneth Roberts; and several great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment is at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
CARL HENRY HORST
EQUINUNK, PA Carl Henry Horst died on November 21, 2006. He was 96.
The son of the late Henry and Matilda Welsch Horst, he was born on the family homestead at Bear Swamp, Texas Township, on October 25, 1910.
Horst was a 1929 graduate of Honesdale High School. He was a member of the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Branch, NY. A dog fancier, he always had a dog as his companion.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was predeceased by his three brothers, George, Paul and Herman Horst.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Honesdale, with the Reverend Ken Buckwalter, the pastor of St. Johns Evangelical Church, officiating.

SCOTT TIMOTHY KRANTZ
CALLICOON, NY Scott Timothy Krantz of Jeffersonville, died November 29, 2006. He was 16.
The son of Gary E. Krantz and Jean Santos Krantz, he was born on June 27, 1990 in Honesdale, PA.
Krantz was in his junior year at Sullivan West High School. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
In addition to his parents of Jeffersonville, he is survived by three brothers, Steven Krantz of the U.S. Coast Guard in Niagara Falls, Daniel Krantz of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Andrew Krantz of Jeffersonville; his paternal grandmother, Muriel Krantz of Jeffersonville; his maternal grandmother, Judy Miller of Liberty; his maternal grandfather, James Santos and his wife Frances of Massachusetts; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, with Pastor Kit Robison officiating.

TODD PANICH
LIBERTY, NY Todd Panich, a resident of Narrowsburg, died on Monday, November 27, 2006. He was 33.
The son of Alan and Frances Minkoff Panich, he was born in Orlando, FL on August 23, 1973.
Panich was a longtime area resident. He was an equipment operator for Sullivan Structures.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Valerie Walter Panich at home; his two brothers, Jamie of New Jersey, and Jeffrey and his wife Johanna of New Hampshire; his sister, Lori Panich of New Jersey; his in-laws, George and Barbara Walter of Narrowsburg; his uncles, Brian Panich of Liberty, Rabbi Zev Leff and Alex Minkoff, both of Israel; his two brothers-in-law, John Walter and Michael Walter and his wife Kami, all of Narrowsburg; two nephews, Reilly Grise and Allyn Walter; two nieces, Kelsy Dutton and Makayla Panich; many cousins; and many friends.
Services were held on Wednesday, November 29 at the Garlick Funeral Home in Monticello.
Interment is at Laurel Cemetery in Cochecton Center.

THOMAS C. PHILLIPS
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY Thomas C. Miller, a resident of Sparrowbush, died on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Vassar Brother Hospital. He was 71.
The son of the late Thomas T. and Evelyn Luckey Phillips, he was born on February 4, 1935 in Otisville.
Phillips was a retired warehouse leadman at Genpak in Middletown, and a lifelong resident of the area.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mary E. Phillips, at home, and Deborah Parker of Lake Wallenpaupack, PA; his brothers, Charles Phillips, Steve Phillips and Albert Phillips; his sisters, Marlene, Darlene, Arbella and Judy Taylor; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary E. Melloh Phillips; a daughter, Cynthia Louise Phillips; a brother, Jimmy; and a brother-in-law, Monty Taylor.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
ROSLYN YABLON
YULAN, NY Roslyn Yablon died November 13, 2006 at home.
The daughter of Jacob and Fanny Kaplan, she was born in Brooklyn.
Yablon was a lifelong member of Hadassah, a member of the Prime Timers of Temple Sholom in Monticello and a member of the Highland Senior Center. Her passion for knitting led her to making hats for the Senior Center and lap robes for the Skilled Nursing Unit.
She is survived by a daughter; two nephews, Andrew and Stephen Glasser; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Barry.
Services were held on November 15, 2006 in King Solomon Memorial Park in Clifton, NJ.
