LIBERTY, NY — Liberty High School’s Student Performing Arts will present “Murders of 1940,” a musical comedy written by John Bishop and first performed at the Longacre Theatre on Broadway on April 6, 1987. The Liberty production will be staged on December 8 to 10 in the recently renovated high school auditorium. The play is a drama set back in 1940. The production is directed by Liberty High School students Amarynth Sichel and Miranda Hardy. Julie Babson serves as the adviser.

The mirth begins as the cast of a play is brought together in an effort to catch the stage door slasher. The cast includes Ann Marie Rosado as Helsa Wenzel, Elana Ehrenberg as Elsa Von Grossenknueten, Matthew Arielly as Michael Kelly, Chris Castro as Patrick O’ Reilly, John Snyder as Ken De La Maize, Sara Hazelnis as Nikki Crandall, Anthony Chanov as Eddie McCuen, Maggie Sauchuk as Marjorie Baverstock, Sam Merri as Roger Hopewell, Jasmine Walizadeh as Bernice Roth and Ben Donaghy as the Stage Door Slasher. Sean Dinnerstien and Meghin Shortall are the stage managers.

Performances on December 8 and 9 will be at 7:00 p.m. while the December 10 show will be at 3:00 p.m. Admission is $5 dollars for adults and $3 dollars for seniors and students.
