Devine excels at AAU National Cross Country Championships

ORLANDO, FL — Over 2,500 runners from across the country competed in the AAU National Cross Country Championships at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando on December 2. Boys and girls from across the United States competed in eight age groups against qualifiers from regional championship meets. Runners contended with stifling heat—80-degree temperatures and high humidity—which is unusual for Florida in December. Brendan Devine of Bethel, NY excelled in the Intermediate Age Group, consisting of 15- and 16-year-olds.

Devine, 16, a junior at Monticello High School and two-time Metropolitan New York AAU Intermediate Champion, completed the 5K course in a personal record time of 15:38.06. This placed Devine third in the national championship competition.
