Artery show to feature a media trio

MILFORD, PA — The Artery Gallery will feature textile works by Jane Blake, watercolors by Joan Ross and sculpture and acrylic paintings by Frank Shuback in its exhibition this month. The exhibit opens Thursday, November 9 and ends December 3, with an artists’ reception on Saturday, November 18 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Blake studied to be a painter in Oxford, England, Paris, and the School of the Visual Arts in New York City, but learned to do batik and sold her first fabrics in Israel. In New York she continued to produce painted fabric for theater, film and the fashion industry.

Ross, the noted New Jersey watercolorist and Artery Gallery member, will show her most recent landscape paintings. Ross is an award-winning artist who paints the rural beauty that surrounds her home. She recently won the North East Watercolor Society’s Award of Excellence for her painting, “Uptegrove Farm.”

Shuback, of West Hampton, NY, is a new member of the gallery. His sculpture has been exhibited widely in many one-man and group shows in New York City and Pennsylvania. His sculptural pieces rely mainly on found objects of wood, metal, plastic and glass, which he incorporates into a finished work that sparkles in its clarity and precision. His acrylic paintings also reflect his love of clarity, precision and startling color contrast.

The Artery Gallery is located in the Forest Hall Building, at the stoplight in Milford. The gallery is open Thursday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
