Sullivan West earns league title and faces rematch with Bears in upcoming Class C tilt

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY - When you begin your season by playing back-to-back Section IV powerhouses like Delhi and Walton, you’re bound to take your lumps.

Those two Sullivan West losses, coupled with defeats against Class B Burke and powerful Chester, had some believing that the 2006 Bulldogs were a shadow of their former selves, a team that won the 2005 Section Nine C title by defeating Tri-Valley a year after beating Marlboro for the B crown.

But playing a tough schedule steeled Sullivan West for crucial league games that mattered more when all was said and done. Last week’s stunning 21-7 victory over Tri-Valley turned heads and started to reclaim believers.

League meet stacks runners against competition from all schools big and small

BEAR MOUNTAIN, NY - You could not have wished for a more perfect day to stage the 40th annual OCIAA Cross-Country Championships on October 27.

The meet pits runners in the Orange County League against each other, regardless of school size, and affords harriers an opportunity to test their mettle against the area’s top contenders.

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY - You’ve probably heard of the legendary boxing clashes involving Mohammed Ali including “The Thrilla in Manilla” and “The Rumble in the Jungle.”

Now local high school football fans can psych themselves up for a local clash of major proportions in the Class C Title rematch between Tri-Valley and Sullivan West on November 5 billed from here on out as “Delirium in Dietz Stadium.”
