Silda Spitzer visits local Democrats

BLOOMINGBURG, NY — Silda Spitzer spoke briefly at a luncheon for area Democrats at the Eagles’ Nest Restaurant on October 25. Spitzer, the wife of Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, who is widely expected to be elected as the next governor of New York State, told the audience of about 100 supporters that her trip to Sullivan County marked the 26th county she has visited while campaigning for her husband. She said she hopes to get to all 66 counties before the election, but then “New York is a big state.”

Spitzer said she is carrying her husband’s message to all parts of the state that change is coming to state government. She also carried a message urging residents to get out the vote. She was especially interested in promoting voting among women, noting that in New York State, single women made up the largest block of residents who do not exercise the right to vote.
