Basket Landing brings folk to Tusten

NARROWSBURG, NY—The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance will present the musical group Basket Landing at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5 at the Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge Street. A young and extraordinary Hankins-based folk and bluegrass group, Basket Landing performs a unique blend of traditional musical genres including sweet Appalachian folk ballads, fun-loving Irish songs, British seafaring tunes, Ozark Mountain bluegrass and vibrant spirituals.

The youthful group has five members: Joan Stein, the group’s leader, (lead vocalist, guitar); Nate Zaur, lead instrumentalist, (tenor vocals, guitar, banjo, string bass and piano); and three teenagers: John Powers (mandolin, backup vocals); Amy Smith (banjo, backup vocals); and Kevin Anderson (bass guitar, hand drums).

Music to be featured in second NACL salon

HIGHLAND LAKE, NY—The next NACL Salon Session, to be held starting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, will feature Lorenzo Sanguedolce and his Sweetblood Quartet.

The sessions, which will be held once a month on a Thursday evening, provide an opportunity for guests to gather in the front lounge of the NACL theatre to talk, drink and enjoy entertainment by local talent including not only music but poetry readings, art installations and multimedia projects. A donation of $5 is requested at the door, and all proceeds will go to the guest performers. A donation bar will be open.

An Aquarian murder mystery

CALLICOON, NY—St. James Episcopal Church will hold a murder mystery dinner, “An Aquarian Death,” evoking Woodstock era of the ’60s, at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4 in the undercroft of the church, on Route 17B across from Roach’s garage.
