‘Astutely funny’ Hoehler comes to Tusten stage

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance will present “Richard Hoehler: For Real” at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 at the Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge Street.

In this one-man show, actor Richard Hoehler takes the audience on an emotional roller coaster ride: qualifying at an AA meeting, auditioning for a Shakespeare play, spearheading a family crisis, welcoming an impending snowstorm and paying his respects to a secret crush. At turns uproariously funny and deeply moving, “this is deceptively simple theatre of the highest order,” says the Off Off Broadway Review.

The show, directed by Leigh Strimbeck, draws material from two of Hoehler’s critically acclaimed solo shows which enjoyed successful Off-Broadway runs throughout the last decade: “Working Class” and “Heavy Mettle” (formerly “Human Resources”). “Working Class” was the winner of the Off Off Broadway Review Award for Best Solo Performance. “Heavy Mettle” won the Best of the Fest in 2002 Midtown International Theatre Festival in New York City and was described by the Village Voice as “Astutely funny” and by The New York Times as “thoughtful, rewarding, on target… a final stage picture that is alone worth the price of admission.”

Tickets cost $12 at the door, $11 if purchased in advance.
