DVAA founders to be honored with gallery renaming

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance Board of Directors will hold an open house on Sunday, October 15 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. to rename the Delaware Arts Center Gallery in honor of the founders of the organization, Elaine Giguere and the late Tom DeGaetani. The gallery will now be called the Alliance Gallery in their honor, and in recognition of Giguere’s leadership as executive director since 1978. This 30th-anniversary event is free and open to the public and will include hors d’oeuvres, music, poetry, a plaque presentation at 3:30 p.m. and “Retrospection,” an exhibition of works, gathered from collectors, by many artists who have shown at the Arts Center galleries over the years.

The board has also established an endowment to support artists’ new work in Giguere’s name. Contributions to that endowment are welcome.

The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance has served as the arts council for Sullivan County since 1976. Arts council services include re-granting public and private funds to community arts organizations and artists throughout the county; promoting the arts and artists through the artsletter, email and the web; presenting artists’ new work, and providing technical assistance and management workshops. Additionally, the Arts Alliance serves the public with year-round exhibitions, music and theatre performances, literary and media arts programs and festivals.
