Pumpkins and squash weigh in at Heinle’s

COCHECTON CENTER, NY — There will be a contest for the biggest pumpkin and hubbard squash, open to children, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on October 14 at Heinle’s General Store Stepping Stone Playground. Prizes are savings bonds, ranging from a $50 bond for third prize to $100 for first prize in each category, with the winners being determined by weight. Refreshments will be served.

Only one entry is allowed per child. A social security number for each child must be brought for the bond.

There will be three prizes in each category. The categories are girl pumpkin winners, boy pumpkin winners, girl Hubbard winners, boy Hubbard winners and a largest gourd single winner.

This program is funded in part by a grant provided by the New York State Family and Children Services.
